Hangzhou Dianzi University (HDU) is a research and teaching-oriented university with prominent features in electronic information and distinctive advantages in economics and management. It is characterized by the interdisciplinary integration of engineering, science, economics, management, liberal arts, law, and art. Established in 1956, the university was initially named Hangzhou Aviation Industry Finance and Economics School. In 1980, it was approved by the State Council to establish Hangzhou Institute of Electronic Engineering. In 2004, it was renamed Hangzhou Dianzi University. In 2015, HDU was listed as a key university for construction in Zhejiang Province.
