As Law and Literature Students' Society from the University of Szczecin, Poland, we are honoured to organise this year's students' conference: Fairy tales: Encounters in law and litearture. Fairy tales have a long standing tradition. The world of fairies, queens and kings, elves and enchanters have always fascinated the humankind. It provided escapism from the outer reality, spurred imagination, shaped childhood and fostered our views of the world. As fairy tales are products of culture, they reflect on the legal reality. There is a strong connection between fairy tales and the law: from legal cases of fictional characters to depictions of crimes and punishment. Law permeates the fairy tales. Drawing inspiration from the affinities between law and literature, this seminar attempts to re-discover the fairy tales as a genre (with legal elements with a special focus). The seminar brings together two perspectives: law and literature. We invite the contributions that will address the following topics: a) law in fairy tales, b) fairy tales in translation and adaptation, c) fairy tales and legal education, d) comparative perspectives of fairy tales, e) fairy tales, law and psychology, f) fairy tales in historical perspective, g) sociology of fairy and folk tales, h) religion and mythology in fairy tales.
